[edit] Character Information

Gonzalez, also known in the story as Rońa, was an orphaned boy who lived on the streets of Buenos Aires, alongside best friend "Corcho" (Diego Mesaglio). A young thief, Gonzalez robbed in order to survive. Gonzalez was constantly hungry; he had to take left overs from food stands to eat. This in turn made him grow fond of food, a charasteristic that he showed later on.

Gonzalez met "Jime" (Maria Jimena Piccolo) and the two quickly became good friends. "Jime" was already a resident of the "Rincon de Luz" ("Corner Light") orphanage home where "Chiquititas"' story developed. "Jime" grew fond of Gonzalez and asked home director "Belen" (Romina Yan) to allow both Gonzalez and "Corcho" into the orphanage. Shortly after, Gonzalez, "Corcho" and "Jime"'s brother "Christian" ("Mosca", played by Ezequiel Castano), became the first three boys accepted into the orphanage home.

Having lived for a long time without a decent diet, Gonzalez made the home's kitchen his favorite area, and he frequently visited to prepare large sandwiches, hamburgers and other types of meals for himself. He also loved most kinds of drinks. Gonzalez was also a fan of association football, a sport he practiced constantly. He was a member of a four boy, orphanage team that played against another squad of neighbor children.

Gonzalez disliked taking showers. He was more comfortable when dirty than when he was clean. However, once in the orphanage, he began a friendship with "Luz" (Sofía Recondo), which later developed into a romantic relationship. The two children were inseparable virtually through the entire telenovela's duration. His relationship with "Luz" created friction with "Luz"'s overprotective grandmother, "Elena" (Susana Lanteri) who does not spare insults on Gonzalez. Gonzalez, in turn, nicknamed "Elena" "the mummy".

Gonzalez became friends with "Yago" (Benjamin Rojas), quickly after "Jime" brought "Yago" with her from a trip. The pair discovered "Elena" as she tried to harm "Belen" by replacing a ring "Belen" was about to be given by her boyfriend "Manuel" (Facundo Arana) with one that had been poisoned.

A millionaire boy looking for his long lost brother, "Guido", (Federico Cernada), went to live at "Rincon de Luz", and, for a while, he believed Gonzalez was his brother. However, after an investigation, he discovered otherwise and left the orphanage in good terms with Gonzalez.
