Ludwig von Falkenhausen

General Ludwig von Falkenhausen (1844–1936), led the German Sixth Army in the Battle of Vimy Ridge at the Hindenburg Line in World War I against General Sir Arthur Currie and Lord Julian Byng. The German side lost the battle and approximately 20,000 soldiers as casualties. 4,000 Germans were taken as prisoners of war.
Falkenhausen also served as governor-general of Belgium during the German occupation, from 1917 until 1918.
