[edit] Career

While attending college in Alaska, Noland started reporting on the college radio station, KSUA-FM.[1] This job helped her find a place at the Fairbanks station KATN, first as an intern, then as a reporter and anchor.[1] While at KATN, Noland filed news reports for CBS Radio station, and filled reports for CNN.[1] In Anchorage, her first assignment took her to an erupting volcano.[1] Later Noland covered the Exxon Valdez trial alongside the world press.[1]Preferences

Lucy's father was an American CIA agent and her mother was Vietnamese. After the Vietnam War, Lucy and her family moved to the United States. First she lived in Oregon for most of her childhood, later moved to Alaska.

Noland graduated from University of Alaska Fairbanks, she also was a reporter for the school's radio station KSUA-FM. She eventually became an intern at the Fairbanks station KATN-TV. In years later, Noland worked for CBS, CNN and ABC. On January 25, 1992, Noland gave birth to her son, Christian. In 1997, Noland joined the WJBK-TV morning news show in Detroit, where she got the most attention to be an attractive news anchor. She also missed a tremendous amount of time while at WJBK. In mid-2000, Noland took a maternity leave from WJBK to give birth to her youngest daughter, Bay.

She landed a position with ABC's minority management training program through KGO in San Francisco. Noland was based at the network's Fresno station KFSN, and filed in-depth reports for both stations. One of her many assignments took her south of the border to see how easy it was to cross illegally into the United States. After a few months with the ABC program, Lucy was offered and accepted the main anchor position with the CBS station KJEO. In Detroit, she worked at the FOX 2 affliate from 1997 to 2004. When coming to New York in 2004, she began hosting Good Day New York. At first, she was anchor of Wakeup with then anchor Chris Gailus and eventually moved up to the First Edition newscast with Lyn Brown. Lucy was however demoted when Jodi Applegate replaced Lyn Brown, who went to the 6 PM show.

On July 1, 2006, Noland became the anchorwoman for Fox 5 Live at 11, when Lyn Brown retired from WNYW after 16 years. On March 21, 2007, Noland left WNYW-TV. The following week, Lucy Noland was replaced by Linda Lopez. In her three year stay at WNYW, Noland has become a fan favorite among the viewers in New York's Tri-State Region for her great sense of humor and good looks. Many fans have called her the hottest news anchor in New York.

It has been stated that Noland will begin working at Fox News in April. It has not been disclosed what show she will co-anchor. This will not be much news for Noland, having subbed for Martha MacCallum on many different occasions.
