Luciano Soprani (born 1946, Reggiolo, Italy--died October 14, 1999, Milan, Italy) was an Italian fashion designer known for his tailored yet colorful men's suits and silk evening gowns. After studying agriculture, Soprani joined MaxMara in 1967, becoming a freelancer in 1975. He designed for Basile and Gucci, among others. In 1981 he showed the first collection under his own name. He also designed wardrobe for the movie Wild Orchid [1].
After Soprani's death from throat cancer [2], Dilio Ortigoza, his friend and the co-founder of his eponymous fashion house, succeeded him as designer.
