Lucia Rosa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lucia Rosa was a young girl from the 19th century who wanted to marry a poor man, and instead was being forced by her father to marry a man she did not want. She threw herself into the Tyrrhenian Sea on the northwest side of Ponza, Italy. She is viewed by some women as a martyr for women's rights and symbol for human rights. A beach and rocks are named after her.
