LTCL DipTESOL

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Licentiate Diploma in TESOL (LTCL DipTESOL) is a professional qualification awarded in the teaching of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) by Trinity College (London). It is often seen as a follow-up to the CertTESOL.

The diploma is awarded upon passing a course which includes an externally examined written paper, an internally assessed and externally moderated coursework portfolio, an externally examined interview, and a teaching practice component that includes four internally assessed and externally moderated lessons, plus one externally examined lesson. All components are monitored or examined by Trinity examiners. The LTCL TESOL is accredited in the United Kingdom by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority at NQF level 7. However, the LTCL TESOL diploma is widely recognized around the world.

All candidates for the LTCL TESOL must have completed a course validated by Trinity College. They must also have a first degree or equivalent; a minimum of two years' recent full-time ESOL teaching experience; and an ability to speak and write English appropriate for a teacher of English at advanced levels.

The LTCL TESOL and DELTA are often viewed as roughly equivalent qualifications.
