Loyola Sullivan

Loyola Sullivan is a former Canadian provincial politician elected as the Member of the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly for the Ferryland District. He was appointed as Minister of Finance by the Progressive Conservative government under Premier Danny Williams in late 2003, and Government House Leader in July 2006.

Sullivan was first elected to the Newfoundland legislature in 1992. From 1996 to 1998 he served as Leader of the Official Opposition. In late December 2006 Sullivan annnounced his resignation from provincial politics.

On January 25, 2007, Sullivan was appointed as Ambassador for Fisheries Conservation by the Government of Canada.

Sullivan was born and raised in Calvert on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland. The son of a fisherman, Sullivan studied at Memorial University and obtained Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees.
