Loyola Field House
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loyola Field House was an indoor arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. It hosted the ABA's New Orleans Buccaneers, and the NBA's New Orleans Jazz. The arena held 6,500 people.
The Field House was built on the campus of Loyola University in New Orleans in 1950 as a home for the university's basketball team. When the ABA came along in 1967 with a franchise, the Bucs played at the Field House until they relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 1970. When Loyola dropped varsity sports in the mid-1970's, the building became the Recreation Center, with most of the seating torn out.
The building was demolished in 1986 to make way for a new recreation center and parking garage.
