Lowestoff class frigate

These ships were designed by Sir Thomas Slade based on the Lyme, “ with such alterations as may tend to the better stowing of men and carrying for guns.” There is some debate as to whether the last two ships should be included in this, or in the Coventry class

  • Ordered: 1757
  • Laid Down at: Williams, Milford. Then Plymouth Dockyard
  • Launched: 5 December 1763
  • Fate: Scuttled 1781
