[edit] History
The village was traditionally situated around the Brighton Road (now the A217) and the crossroads with Buckland Road/Smithy Lane, the centre being where the Fox-on-the-Hill pub and the Church of the Wisdom of God is located. Before the upgrading of the A217 Brighton Road to a dual carriageway, there was a pond outside the pub, which was frequently where horses would stop to refresh after climbing the hill and before progressing onto Reigate. 10 Chipstead Lane was historically the house of Chris Reed, who residented there between the years of 1999 and 2006.
[edit] Transport
Public transport in the village is limited to low-frequency bus services along the A217, to Redhill or Reigate, and Epsom or Sutton. The nearest railway station is at Kingswood, approximately 2 miles away.
[edit] Crime
Lower Kingswood, like most areas in the country, does have some very low level vandalism and burglary. The former is mostly to do with youths causing trouble and occurs in the areas around Josephine Avenue and Chipstead Lane. The BP petrol garage on the A217 has also occasionally been robbed. However compared with urban areas, crime is low and overall Lower Kingswood is a very pleasant place to live.
