Low Newton (HM Prison)

HM Prison Low Newton is a prison and Young Offenders Institution located at Brasside, near Durham, County Durham, England. Since 1998 HMP Low Newton has been an all-female jail taking female remand prisoners from across the north of England, as well as lifers and juveniles. The prison has an operational capacity of 396 (as of February 2004). The prison was originally constructed in 1965 as a mixed remand centre.
