Lovells, formerly known as Lovell White Durrant, is an international law firm with over 300 partners and in total around 1,200 lawyers in 26 offices around the world. It is the 5th largest law firm in Europe and the 8th largest law firm in the world.
The firm has a large presence in several major European cities, offering a broad range of legal services to its clients. In the United States, the firm’s New York and Chicago offices have flourished thanks to its market-leading expertise in insurance and reinsurance and the development of its banking, capital markets and restructuring practices. In Asia, with the emergence of China as a global business player, the firm has newer branches in Beijing and Shanghai, along with long-established offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. The firm advises many of the world’s largest corporations, financial institutions and governmental organisations. It regularly acts on complex, international transactions, as well as large commercial disputes.
The firm's client list includes ALSTOM, Barclays, Credit Suisse First Boston, DZ Bank, the European Commission, Prudential plc and Société Générale.
Lovells, which can trace its history in the United Kingdom back to the early 19th century, has gone through a number of international mergers, most notably with Germany-based Boesebeck Droste in 2000.
