Lovegrass is the genus Eragrostis of grass. Most species, if they are used for anything, are used for feeding livestock, but teff is eaten by humans, mostly in Ethiopia. E. clelandii and E. tremula are also recorded as foods eaten in times of famine, in Australia and Chad, respectively.
It is dispersed by passing animals; its seeds' hooks latch on to fur or hair, or to clothes.
