Love is the Place is an album by Curtis Mayfield, one of his most disappointing recordings. Only "Come Free Your People" stands out as a stone cold classic.

The above states that this is one of Curtis Mayfield's most dissapointing albums. In terms of what? If that statement is in terms of record sales, then I don't think that statement should carry much weight at all. Artistically, Curtis Mayfield has never put out anything that was "dissapointing" in his genre of music. He is a true American gem, and they'll be nobody like him ever agian.
You don't judge the quality of an album purely by record sales, be they good, bad, or indifferent, I'm sure the person was refering to the artistic quality of the album. Curtis is the greatest, but that doesn't mean that everything he did was spectactular. Even the very best are not excempt from some criticism now and again.
