Love cowboys

The Love Cowboys were a funk band from Oxford, Ohio in the 1980s and early 1990s. They featured Kevin Malone (A.K.A. TLC) as the singer, Jordan Arbenz (A.K.A. Saltine) on guitar, Michael Horrigan (A.K.A. Crazy Fresh) on Bass, and Matt Hergert (A.K.A. Little Ripple) on drums. They moved to Oxford, Ohio in 1988 and played a number of shows across the midwest. They opened for bands such as The Afghan Whigs, Royal Crescent Mob, and Slack. In January, 1991, they released their first cd, entitled "Bigpaw", co-produced by John Curley, bassist of The Afghan Whigs and received an abundance of local support on radio stations and reviews in local media. In June 1992, they released another cd, entitled "Broth", literally a broth of several genres and styles, also produced by John Curley. Both of their cds were recorded in John Curley's Ultrasuede Studio in Cincinnati and are under the Ultrasude Record Label. Several months after releasing Broth, the band decided to move to San Francisco, California, with hopes of spreading their "grooves" throughout the west coast. Later in early 1993, after struggling to support themselves as a band and losing their bassist to The Afghan Whigs, the band broke up. Currently, the former band members are playing in bands such as Goose, James Combs, Brendan Benson, and Five Horse Johnson.
