Love and Other Catastrophes is a 1996 Australian romantic comedy film featuring Frances O'Connor, Radha Mitchell and Alice Garner.
The story revolves around college students and roommates Mia (O’Connor) and Alice (Garner), each of whom is experiencing romantic upheaval. At the start of the film, Mia is in the process of breaking up with her girlfriend, Danni (Mitchell). Meanwhile, Alice is caught in a love triangle in which she is attracted to Ari (Matthew Dyktynski) but is the object of desire of the somewhat-shy Michael (Matt Day). Danni herself is pursuing another love interest, in part to get back at Mia.
The film was nominated for five Australian Film Institute awards, including best film, best original screenplay, best actress, best supporting actress, and editing. Garner won a Film Critics Circle of Australia award for best supporting actress for her role in the movie.
