[edit] License tagging for Image:17sets copy.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:17sets copy.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:04, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Feb 2007

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the Vicente Magsaysay page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. --Madchester 03:15, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Vicente Magsaysay, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Madchester 03:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalise Wikipedia, as you did to Vicente Magsaysay, you will be blocked from editing. --Madchester 03:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

HI MY NAME IS MARY ROSE Magsaysay and I am not vandalising my father's entries please revert. check out the official webpage http://www.visitzambales.com where some of the info were lifted from.

Hello...first, please be aware that no one is allowed to cut and paste any information verbatim from any website to Wikipedia (even if you own the website). That is considered a copyright violation and is a ground for speedy deletion (or instant deletion), and if the Vicente Magsaysay article was tagged for speedy deletion, there will be little time for you to contest this. To work around this, you will need to rewrite any material in your own words (for as long as you include the proper references---I suggest you take time to read the attribution policy to understand how this works).
Second, if you are in fact related to Mr. Magsaysay, I suggest you take time to orient yourself with Wikipedia's policies relating to biographies (to wit, the policies and guidelines on what Wikipedia is not, neutral point of view, biographies of living persons, autobiographies and conflict of interest). (And, I need to stress this, please begin with the neutral point of view policy as this article (as well as those of other senatorial candidates) are prone to being tagged as being biased.) This is to prevent writing anything that might be construed as biases and electioneering, even if it wasn't your intention (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt with this). If you have questions, don't hesitate to leave a note on my talk page. Thank you. --- Tito Pao 04:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi:

Nice point since I wrote the web page for the province and you may email me at magsaysay@pldtdsl.net or at the official website email at Mary Rose Magsaysay better yet call the Provincial Capitol Bldg. Office of the Governor at talk to anyone +63478117216 they will inform you that I wrote the text of the web page. I will foot note properly but please cease to erase. You even erased the news clippings which were factual.... I am sad to think that only your text is welcome not even from our own biblio is allowed..... Pictures were taken by me..... http://picasaweb.google.com/loumag ....We don't have that money as the other candidates so we try our best to augment through the power of I.T. and am very sad to be treated this way..... Its hard to think that the truth is always suppressed. Why are you erasing the links? I suggest you face me in the courts!

Hello again...first, I suggest that you contact the user (User:Madchester) who made the reverts to the Vicente Magsaysay article, since he is in a position to speak about why he reverted the article. Having said that, please allow me to clarify some points:
1.Authorship of the original article from external website. I do not contest this and I am in no position to dispute authorship of the articles, as you say so. However, what is not allowed is to copy and paste the contents of your website into Wikipedia. To use an analogy, if Wikipedia was school, you would not be allowed to do a research paper just by photocopying an entire book and presenting the exact words of that book (including punctuations) or even the actual photocopies itself as your own "research" work; you will have to rephrase it and write it in your own words as well as include footnotes and a bibliography of where you got your research paper sources. The same mechanism works for Wikipedia: we do not stop you from using other materials for any article, for as long as you give proper credit and you do not use the words exactly as they were originally written (i.e., must be presented using your own words). (And while we're on the topic as well: you are also allowed to use materials from newspapers, periodicals and books; Wikipedia is not limited to online sources.)
Some articles on Wikipedia have been deleted because some of the editors did not understand this: they simply copied the text on a Wikipedia article and made the copied contents as the article itself. This is a problem with showbiz-related articles. A recent example that is not far from Pinoy consciousness is the article about the TV show Super Twins; it was initially deleted because one of the editors simply cut and pasted the contents from GMA-7's website. The latest consensus about the Super Twins article (at least, as far as the interested editors are concerned) is that it should be recreated from scratch, with proper citations...but not by copying the exact text from the GMA web site.
2.Pictures. If you have taken some pictures and you want to use them on Wikipedia, you are free to upload them on Wikipedia's servers as long as you are including an appropriate licensing tag for each image you upload (either by releasing an image to the public domain, a Creative Commons licensing, a fair use licensing or a GFDL licensing). Uploading a picture w/ the proper license is preferable to simply linking to a gallery (to avoid any concerns about link spamming). The images and image uploading help pages provide information on how you can do this. Honestly, if you can provide a moderate amount of images on the article, the Vicente Magsaysay article will be one of the very few articles about senatoriables that have images (and I'm not talking about simple mug shots taken from a studio); to the best of my knowledge, as of this writing, there are very, very few of these that you can count these articles in the fingers of one hand. And I believe you'll want to make this article better than the rest ;)
3.External Links. For stylistic reasons, it's suggested that you compile all links to external web sites at the bottom of any article. This is in accordance with Wikipedia's manual of style. As for what links are allowed and not allowed, I suggest you take time to read the external links policy. Normally, in a biographic article, the links to a person's personal or official website are allowed. Blogs about that person isn't, except when it's the person's official blog.
4.Using Wikipedia as a campaign platform. Because Wikipedia strives to be an encyclopedia, there are certain things that are allowed and not allowed on Wikipedia. You will hate me for saying this over and over again, but Wikipedia is not a soapbox, and for this reason anything that reeks of campaigning on the site is not allowed. The reverse is also true: any form of libel or slander directed towards a living person (who is the subject of an article) is not allowed. However, this does not stop you from writing about a person's achievements as long as you present them in an objective manner.
Finally, I believe that you have a lot to contribute to the article, based on the initial edits you made. I do not believe that it was your intent to "vandalize" the article, although it does raise some potential concerns as far as other Wikipedia policies are concerned. Please do take your time to be familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines (or "house rules", to use a more familiar term); this is for your own good, and will prevent any problems in the future. Thank you. --- Tito Pao 09:23, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Let me help

I know that you are a newbie in creating articles here in Wikipedia. Here. Please read the whole article Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Here's another one. You could get inputs from this article: Wikipedia:How to edit a page. Maybe you could have an idea now how to make a good article. Try making some edits. Paraphrase it from the original website so that Wikipedia might not get into trouble. You can also get some help from the tambayan community. Visit Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines.

By the way, did Mr. Vicente Magsaysay ran in the 1987 Senate race under Estrada's coalition party? --Exec8 17:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, for reference, look at Chiz Escudero or Kiko Pangilinan for comparison on how to write the article. Please don't be offended by the reversion of your edits by that guy Manchester or something, it's for the sake of Wikipedia and your father's article itself. And of course the reader. If you have questions or need help, a lot of Filipino Wikipedians are willing to help. Berserkerz Crit 20:05, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
