"The town is principally residential but is also home to the printing works where all English banknotes are printed."

I am quite certain this is not correct (I live in Loughton) but can't find any references to show this.



The information is correct. If you make your way down Rectory Lane and turn left into Langston Road, after a few hundred yards you will see an enormous building with an arched roof. It is 800 feet long and 125 feet wide, so it is hard to miss! This is the Bank of England Printing Works, now managed by De La Rue, and it has been there for fifty years. The TV movie Hot Money was set there, many local people work there, and the landmark building can clearly be seen from many of the hillier parts of Loughton.
