Loukhi

Loukhi (Russian: Лоухи; Finnish: Louhi) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Karelia, Russia, located on the shore of Lake Panovo, 596 km north of Petrozavodsk. It is the administrative center of Loukhsky District. Population: 5,920 (2002 Census); 6,405 (1989 Census).
It was founded in 1912–1914 due to the construction of a railroad. It was granted status of urban-type settlement in 1944.
