Louisiana Derby

The Louisiana Derby is a race for Thoroughbred horses run at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans each year, usually in early March. The race is open to horses, age three, willing to race one and one-sixteenth miles on the dirt. A Grade II, it offers a purse of $600,000.

Black Gold, winner of the Kentucky Derby, won this race in 1924.
