Louise Jane Wener (born 30 July 1966[1], Gants Hill, London, England) is a former singer with the band Sleeper, who later moved into another field as a novelist.
Sleeper were originally known as 'Surrender Dorothy'. The band had a few hits in the United Kingdom, and had a track featured in the film Trainspotting. That song was Atomic, a cover of a Blondie track. Sleeper also recorded three full length albums; Smart, The It Girl, and finally, Pleased to Meet You. The band's hit singles include "Inbetweener", "Sale of the Century" and "Nice Guy Eddie". Wener's brand of honest, direct and uncensored rock connected with many and infuriated some.
Wener is now the author of three novels: Goodnight Steve McQueen, The Big Blind (retitled The Perfect Play) and The Half Life of Stars. She also teaches novel writing courses.
