Luise Caroline, Princess of Hesse-Kassel (28 September 1789 – 13 March 1867) was the consort of Friedrich Wilhelm, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and the matriarch of the house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
She was born in the Duchy of Schleswig-Holstein to Charles of Hesse-Kassel (19 December 1744 – 17 August 1836) and Luise, Princess of Denmark and Norway (30 January 1750 – 12 January 1831). Her older sister Marie Sophie Friederike of Hesse-Cassel (28 October 1767 – 21 March 1852) became Queen consort of Frederick VI of Denmark.
With Friedrich Wilhelm, she had ten children:
- Luise Marie Friederike (October 23, 1810 - May 11, 1869).
- Friederike Karoline Juliane (October 9, 1811 - July 10, 1902).
- Karl, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (September 30, 1813 - October 24, 1878).
- Friedrich, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (October 23, 1814 - November 27, 1885).
- Wilhelm (April 10, 1816 - September 5, 1893).
- Christian IX of Denmark (April 8, 1818 - January 29, 1906).
- Luise, Abbess of Itzehoe (November 18, 1820 - November 30, 1894).
- Julius (October 14, 1824 - June 1, 1903).
- Johann (December 5, 1825 - May 27, 1911).
- Nikolaus (December 22, 1828 - August 18, 1849).
Her son Christian was named third-in-line to the throne of Christian VIII of Denmark in 1847. He succeeded his childless cousin Frederick VII of Denmark on 15 November 1863, the hereditary prince Ferdinand having deceased somewhat earlier.
Her grandchildren included (among others) King Frederick VIII of Denmark, Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, Empress Marie of Russia, King George I of Greece and Crown Princess Thyra of Hanover.
