Loughbrickland Crannog

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Loughbrickland Crannóg is three miles southwest of Banbridge, Co.Down, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the middle of the lake, 1 mile from the village of Loughbrickland. Constructed sometime around 500 AD this artificial island was later, in the seventeenth century, inhabited by the Magennis family, who had vacated a castle that is thought to have been located on the lake shore.
