Lou Rankin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lou Rankin was a popular American sculptor starting in the 1960's. Originally trained as a caricature artist, he developed an innovative use of concrete to create sculptures of animals, all with a touch of whimsy. Whether joyful, mischievous or a touch of pathos, all of his creations are seemingly alive. Lou was requested to design toys and gifts for Dakin and Hallmark, both well-known American companies. At the end of the 1990's, Lou developed a serious allergy to concrete, ending any further work in this medium.
