Lostock railway station serves the area named Lostock Junction near Westhoughton in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, north-west England.

The two-platform station is served by Northern Rail and TransPennine Express services to Manchester from Preston and Blackpool North. It is a popular commuter station (Strategic Rail Authority figures 2004-05)

The Bolton-Wigan branch-line diverges just to the south of Lostock's platforms, but there are no platforms on the branch to Wigan and Southport. The Network Rail North West Route Utilisation Strategy has recommended the construction of these additional platforms.

[edit] History

Until its closure in 1967 the original station was called Lostock Junction. When re-opened on May 15th 1988, the station was renamed Lostock.
