"Lost in the Supermarket" is a song from the album London Calling (1979) by the U.K. punk/rock band The Clash. It is the eighth song on the track listing.
A slower song than many of the others on the album, its lyrics describe someone struggling to deal with an increasingly commercialized world (accurately predicting the 1980's). With lines such as "I came in for that special offer - guaranteed personality," the protagonist bemoans the impersonalization of the world around him.
The song was recently covered by Ben Folds for use in the movie "Over the Hedge."
