"Losing Grip" is the fourth single and last single (except in Australia where "Mobile" was released) from Avril Lavigne's top 5 album Let Go. It was released in late spring of 2003 after the success of "I'm with You". The song was written and produced by Avril Lavigne and C. Magness. The song is slightly heavier than most of her poppier songs on Let Go (possibly the explanation of its weak success). It is about Lavigne "losing grip" with her boyfriend as they are just not meant to be. "Don't Tell Me", the first single from her sophomore album Under My Skin, is said to almost be a follow-up or part two of the song as Avril tells her boyfriend she doesn't want him because of his sexually rude behavior.

[edit] Awards

"Losing Grip" was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, but lost to "Steve McQueen" by Sheryl Crow.

[edit] Chart success

"Losing Grip" was her weakest United States single to date. It failed to reach the Top 40 on Billboard Hot 100 only peaking at #64. However, it did get a moderate success in the UK charting at #22, Ireland at #18, and Australia at #20.
