Lorimar-Telepictures
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lorimar-Telepictures was a television syndication firm established in 1986 with the merger of Lorimar Productions and Telepictures.
[edit] Broadcasting
In the mid-1980s, Lorimar-Telepictures went into the broadcasting business by acquiring six television stations:
- KMID Channel 2, Midland, Texas
- KSPR Channel 33, Springfield, Missouri
- WPGH-TV Channel 53, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- KCPM Channel 24, Chico, California (now KNVN)
- WLII Channel 11, Caguas, Puerto Rico
- WSUR-TV Channel 9, Ponce, Puerto Rico
Unlike its entertainment properties, its broadcasting division wasn't as successful; as a result, Lorimar-Telepictures would sell off these stations to other broadcasters by the early-1990s.
