Lori (Transformers)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lori is a fictional character in the Transformers: Cybertron (known as Transformers: Galaxy Force in Japan) cartoon series. She is voiced by Sarah Edmonton in Cybertron and by Rika Morinaga in Galaxy Force.

Lori is a teenage girl who lives in Colorado. Along with her friends, the brothers Coby and Bud, she befriended the Autobots after finding and aiding the damaged Landmine. Lori is a self-described "city girl" despite the fact that she lives with her parents in the country - a fact that came about when her parents decided to "get back to nature". Lori's father is a real estate developer, and her mother is either a housewife or has an unseen career. In the dub, she has a brother.

While relatively level-headed compared to Coby and Bud, Lori does have an overwhelming personality, powerful enough to cause even Scourge, the fearsome ruler of the Beast Planet, to hesitate angering her. As perhaps a sign of respect for her force of will, Scourge refers to her as "Little sister" (Japanese: Ojousan, alternative translations include "Little miss" or "little lady"). She herself sees Override as an older sister as well (although in the Japanese Override's character called Nitro Convoy is male, so this relationship isn't exactly the same).

At the beginning, Coby and Lori seemed to be the sort of friends who liked to bicker (at one point, she wonders why she hangs out with idiots like him), but in later episodes there have been hints that there may be potential for a relationship between the two someday.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The potential relationship between Lori and Coby grows throughout the latter half of the series, as the two begin supporting or comforting each other during the various battles to rescue Bud from Starscream and recover the final Cyber Planet Key.

Their relationship is finally realised in the final episode of the series, where the two promise to study hard and go into space before kissing atop Coby's customised Scrapmetal drone. Years later, the two keep their promise to meet up in space and the final scene of Galaxy Force is a picture of their wedding, the happy couple surrounded by their friends and family, as well as Jolt, Six Speed, Reverb, and Optimus Prime.

[edit] IDW Publishing

IDW's Transformers Collectors Club exclusive comic story, Revelations part 6, is set after the defeat of Galvatron but before Optimus Prime's mission to start a new Space Bridge project. In this story the Autobots from the IDW series (Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Sentinel Maximus, Downshift, Perceptor, Alpha Trion, Over-Run, Anti-Blaze, Checkpoint and Scythe) meet the Autobots from the animated series (Cybertron Optimus Prime, Jetfire, Override, Scattorshot, Red Alert, Hot Shot, Lori, Bud and Coby) and thank each other and remembering those who were lost in the battles.
