Lorenzo Lanzi (born in Cesena, 26 October 1981) is an Italian WSBK rider. Prior to 2005 he has raced in World Superbike, World Supersport and World Superstock championships, as well as a successful one off in the AMA Superbike Championship.
In 2004 Supersport World Championship he raced with Ducati 749R, placed 6th in final classified. In 2005 Lanzi rode mainly for the Caracchi Ducati team. After a poor first 2 rounds, and injury keeping him out of the next two, Lanzi obtained 8 successive top ten finishes on a 2004 model bike. He earned a promotion at the Lausitzring race where he rode for the Xerox sponsored Ducati factory team in place of the injured Régis Laconi. He took the pole position for the 2 races. In race one he overshot the first corner and had to go down an escape road, seeing him cut several corners. He rejoined third, but had missed enough of the track to earn a ride-through penalty, dropping him down the field, although he fought back to 8th. However, in race 2 he took the win ahead of Chris Vermeulen and Noriyuki Haga, earning himself a place on the factory team for 2006. However, whilst team-mate Troy Bayliss dominated the season, Lanzi did not win any races. At Brno he had a tyre failure in race one, and lashed out at the team when he returned to the pits. This coupled with Yukio Kagayama's victory in the race dropped him to 8th overall.
