Lord Worm (real name Dan Greening) is the current vocalist of the Canadian death metal band Cryptopsy. He initially joined the band in 1992, but left in 1997 to work as an ESL teacher for adults. He picked his own replacement in the form of Mike DiSalvo. In 2003, he rejoined the band. He claims he got his nickname in the late eighties when he befriended a magician. According to Lord Worm they would spend their time smoking snake ribs.[1]

Lord Worm is renowned for his stage act, during which he eats worms that he usually either digs up himself before the show, or buys from a bait shop. At some gigs he also feeds his worms to the audience. He is also known for his exceptional vocal gusto, such as on the song "Open Face Surgery" in which he prolongs a scream for approximately twenty-eight seconds straight (Lord Worm even claims to have extended this scream to fifty seconds in a live setting.) His lyrics have also received much recognition; while they tend to follow themes typical of death metal, they are of a high level verbally, showing creative use of vocabulary and a talent for making lyrics rhyme unconventionally. However, his vocals have proved to be among the most difficult to decipher of all singers employing the death grunt style. This is likely due to the lack of verse structure of most Cryptopsy songs, as well as the accusation that, particularly on the first two albums, he isn't even fully pronouncing many of the words.
