Lord Spitfire

In Eric Rucker Eddison's fantasy The Worm Ouroboros Lord Spitfire is a character who is the brother of the hero and one of the chief lords of Demonland.
Lord Spitfire is described as follows
“ | shorter but mayhap sturdier than (Juss), apparelled in black silk that shimmers with gold as he moveth, and crowned with black eagle's feathers among his horns and yellow hair. His face is wild and keen like a sea-eagle's, and from his bristling brows the eyes dart glances sharp as a glancing spear. A faint flame, pallid like the fire of a Will-o'-the-Wisp, breathes ever and anon from his distended nostrils. This is Lord Spitfire, impetuous in war. (page 13) | ” |
Lord Spitfire has two brothers Lord Juss and Goldry Bluszco. However he has no named parents, nor any wife or children. His chief residence is the castle Owlswick.
The word Spitfire dates from Elizabethan times and refers to a particularly fiery, ferocious type of person, usually a woman (see also the Supermarine Spitfire).
Lord Spitfire, while fierce in battle, is beaten by Corinius at the battle of Thremnir's Heugh and loses control of most of Demonland as a result. He fights a determined war of resistance from the mountains but Demonland is only freed from the Witchland army thanks to the return of Lord Juss and Brandoch Daha.
Lord Spitfire is not a wise character and is described as the least capable of the four heroes of Demonland.
