For those tracking the inexplicable efforts of our favorite anon user:
- Lucky 6.9 added 24.30.157.246 to the Severe section of Vandalism in progress by User:Lucky 6.9.
- Of slightly less importance, I added several of his new articles to Copyright problems. He doesn't seem to have reverted those articles yet, to my surprise. tregoweth 07:20, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
- ...and never responds to messages
- how could he, if his IP changes all the time? 217.25.194.150
- A fair question. He tends to use the same group of IPs, so he should still the messages eventually. tregoweth 19:04, July 11, 2005 (UTC)
Same pattern?
I'm not certain if this is a clueless newbie or an active vandal, but I've made over 60 reverts in the past few days (and I'm only a fraction of the team doing it) to a user that adds pages to categories that have not been created. Most articles are in Category:fictional animals and, to a lesser degree Category:Prehistoric mammals. I was wondering if the pattern might be similar. See User:202.152.162.215 and User:202.152.162.216. See also history of Template:Fictional animals cat for a good example of this activity. --Aranae 11:25, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Recent possible user name
A Flair Girls (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) had recently editted {{Cartoon Cartoons}} with false information regarding various cartoons on the Cartoon Network. I removed several that I knew were false, and a subsequent user removed several others that turned out to be false. Another user put a message on the user's talk page and that directed me here. I don't know if this is how I should notify anyone of the possible vandal, but it certainly looks as if it is the case with this new user. Ryulong 02:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Rerd and Mrknowitman?
Rerd (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) and Mrknowitman (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) have been vandalizing some pages on The Lion King. Mrknowitman keeps adding nonsense and deleting the category boxes on some pages. I don't know if they are sockpuppets of MascotGuy or new editors who need to learn to stop vandalizing pages. If an administrator needs some more information, then let me know.
It appears that these editors aren't editing articles any more. --Starionwolf 06:02, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- That doesn't look like MascotGuy -- he never edits article sections or leaves edit comments, and his edits are more doggedly clueless than malicious. —tregoweth (talk) 11:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

- Ok, it looks like I'm dealing with another annoying and persistant vandal who registers new accounts. Thanks for the info though. --Starionwolf 04:32, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
I am going to run a severe vandalbot for blocking ym main account. I am going to be a bad threat to this site. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BBIH the Great (talk • contribs).
I am User:BBIH and have not done much since my block. However...
Wonderhawk
Wonderhawk (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) is doing a lot of edits to cartoon articles, even saying that there will be a new network just for Cartoon Cartoons, without edit summaries. Ryulong 08:30, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
New possible sockpuppet
NoseNuggets (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)
- He did a lot of edits to {{Cartoon Cartoons}} that another known sockpuppet also editted recently. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ryulong (talk • contribs).
- Looking at NoseNuggets' edit history, I see that they focus on similar subjects, but they also edit sections and leave messages on talk pages, which is not typical MascotGuy behavior. I believe NoseNuggets and MascotGuy are unrelated. —tregoweth (talk) 05:18, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Cliffer Guy
Cliffer Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) is making some edits similar to that of MascotGuy. No edit summaries, edits the whole article, and is focussing on animation (and concrete?). I caught him on my watchlist for Cartoon Cartoons and Template:Cartoon Cartoons. In the article, he basically reversed the concensus about original animation past 2003 (from what I gathered, I think he was saying that there were Cartoon Cartoons past 2003). And he reverted the Template then reverted it again. He's only made a handful of contributions so far, but with what he has done, he's looking a lot like MascotGuy. Ryulong 20:56, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Another possible sockpuppet
I caught Ground Breakers (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) while I was on VandalProof. He dosen't have that many edits yet, but judging from the editing pattern, I think it's him. —Whomp [T] [C] 02:38, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like MascotGuy to me. Ground Breakers has been blocked. —tregoweth (talk) 04:23, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Yet another sock
Chicken Collar Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) this time. Unfortunatly, most admins don't really know about the nature of MascotGuy, and my report at AIV got shunned (just like it did with Ground Breakers). —Whomp [T] [C] 15:12, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- Note that he is now editing articles relating to The Beatles. —Whomp [T] [C] 18:08, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- We seem a bit quick on the block button when a new user shows up who doesn't use edit summaries. Certainly not all of User:Chicken Collar Guy and User:Shockin' Starlights edits were vandalism. Don't we get lots of users who fail to use the preview button and the edit summary field? Powers 21:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Streameries (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) fits the pattern, too, but again, I'm not sure how we can know for sure. Certainly most of Streameries' edits appear valid. Powers 23:13, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- The page does say "block on sight"—though I'm not sure who added that. —tregoweth (talk) 04:30, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well that's what I'm saying, though. What constitutes "sight"? We block some of these socks after less than 10 edits that fit the MascotGuy pattern. Are we so sure that pattern is unique to that person? Powers 12:31, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Ban by IP
What about using CheckUser to get MascotGuy's IP(s) and then banning the IP(s)? (It is my understanding that when banning an IP you can also ban anyone logged in that might be using that IP.) Maybe if this guy is completely locked out of editing (instead of being able to edit for a few hours and then getting banned, and then a new account...) there is a chance he might actually get the message. Qutezuce 00:12, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Another possible MascotGuy
Nemo's Agency 5000 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) seems to fit the pattern, but again, without a clearer description of how these users are determined to unambiguously be MascotGuy's sockpuppets, I can't tell for sure. Powers 12:41, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thinkie Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) and Heartful Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seem to fit the pattern. Interesting that these two are active even though Nemo hasn't been blocked yet. Powers 13:20, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I see Heartful Guy has been blocked. Is there something about Nemo's Agency 5000 and Thinkie Guy that show them not to be MascotGuy? Powers 18:03, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Blocked. —tregoweth (talk) 01:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. Is there a better place to report these? Shotgun Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) appears to fit the pattern. It's a shame, though; a lot of these edits are pretty useful. Powers 12:48, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- I know; that's part of the reason I had been leaving him alone for a bit. I really wish there was some way to get his attention or communicate with him. —tregoweth (talk) 17:29, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Scam Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seems to fit the pattern for Mascot Guy. He sure is making a helluvalot of edits on retailing company pages. Tuxide 05:46, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Twilight Secret Star Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seems to fit the pattern for MascotGuy. In particular all of the later sockpuppets have made edits such as [1], on Sears Holdings Corporation, where he turns "Super Kmarts" to "Super Ks". I don't know what the heck is wrong with him. Tuxide 00:03, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Matchbox Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) would also appear to be another in the long line of Guys as sock puppets. If anyone has any success in contacting him, let me know! BlueSquadronRaven 20:29, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, this seems to work: [2] Also I'd be curious to know how the hell he edits as fast as he does. He apparently doesn't use "Show preview", but still the amount of content that he edits in a given amount of time is very unnatural. Tuxide 01:44, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- None of us ever said he had a life... --BlueSquadronRaven 08:13, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

- Hillbilly Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log), Downfall Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log), Nougat the Great (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seem to have this edit pattern. Don't understand why he would register three accounts all in one day, but it is very obvious that these accounts are owned by the same person. None of the contribution timestamps suggest that any two of these accounts were used simultaneously: Downfall Guy was registered on the same minute as Nougat the Great's last edit, etc. Tuxide 22:50, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- He probably edits from different locations/computers (sometimes he messes up and edits as an IP address and I've seen at least 3 different IP address he has used, none in the same subnet), so he probably just registers a new account every time the old one gets blocked or when he goes to a new location/computer. Qutezuce 08:51, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- It occurs to me that he might be under the impression that that's just how things work around here. Powers 14:06, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps if we used CheckUser to ban the IPs (and accounts using those IPs) that MascotGuy uses he might snap out of it? Qutezuce 20:59, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps he just keeps forgetting his username? That would make more sense, since he had used Twilight Secret Star Guy for more than a couple days. Sometimes I wonder where the hell he comes up with these. Tuxide 18:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- He uses an account until it gets banned. Sometimes he has more than one account active at a time. This is consistent with my theory that he uses multiple computers and uses the same account (on each computer) until it gets blocked (or sometimes changes after a few days if it doesn't get banned). I doubt this is a simple case of forgetting his account. He purposefully registers a new account every day or so with no intention of using it for more than a day or two. - Glare Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also. Tuxide 18:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- It appears that he just forgets to sign in and makes new names. I've got the latest one blocked, but several of them are not blocked at all, and he just makes new usernames. Ryūlóng 08:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Moscow Craters (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seems to fit this pattern. Tuxide 19:52, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Spotlight Guy
Another one: User:Spotlight Guy. I'll block him now. ProhibitOnions (T) 08:45, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Another "possible" one: Motha Fatha Fink (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log). By the time I am writing this message, he has only made two edits, to Kmart and Wal-Mart, however prior to doing so and on the same minute he registered, he also registered Whirlbooth (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) and another "guy" name, Looney Noodle Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log). Doo-Doo Guy
I just discovered Doo-Doo Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log), with which he seems to have created duplicate categories "Companies established in (year)" for every "(year) establishments". Groan. —tregoweth (talk) 15:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Foul Play Guy
Foul Play Guy (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) - Given that he's replacing images on this page and the sock template page with pictures of that creepy McDonald's clown, I bet this guy is another sock. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 05:40, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Babble Guy
Babble Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) also seems to fit the description for MascotGuy. Tuxide 23:24, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Hook-Off Guy
Hook-Off Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) too. Tuxide 02:16, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

MascotGuy sock account on Wheels! in North Carolina! (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) self-proclaimed as you can see. Carson 02:10, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Loft-de-Loft
I think this (User:Mr. Loft-de-Loft) is another one, due to his edits on Template:McDonald's and his short edit history. Anyone care to agree? ProhibitOnions (T) 20:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Chunky Guy
Chunky Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) -usual editing pattern. —Whomp t/c 00:13, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Blocked. And if he's reading this: you wouldn't get blocked all the time if you communicated with other users. —tregoweth (talk) 01:03, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Drifter Days
Drifter Days (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) appears to be another one, the articles he edits are the same (as well as the exact same bs that you reverted earlier), but the only thing suggesting that this is not him is merely that this account was registered on the 18th of August. Probably irrelevant though. Tuxide 19:31, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Mucha Mondo Light Guy, and a question
First, the sock: Mucha Mondo Light Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)
And now, the question: Should I bother reporting these socks on WP:AIV? It seems that sometimes, an admin who happens to be patrolling the page dosen't know who MascotGuy is, despite me providing this page (take this for example). Another time, it was mention that he shouldn't be blocked, because he had some "good edits". Is there a way to somehow educate the admins who refuse to block his socks? —Whomp t/c 01:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Another account that seems to have been abandoned: Mr. Frecklefly (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) —Whomp t/c 01:22, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- I just came across Mucha Mondo Light Guy myself, and I suspect strongly it's the same person. Anyone else like to provide a third opinion? ProhibitOnions (T) 07:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
I've also been admonished by admins for putting him on WP:AIV on the grounds that that incarnation of him has not caused any vandalism as of when I reported him. And, to be fair, it's for reporting vandalism, not sock puppets, which is a whole different procedure. Of course, while it's true he does do some good edits, the bad far outweighs it. Since then, whenever I have encountered a new incarnation of him, I put the {{blatantvandal}} template on his talk page immediately, so when the inevitable occurs, an admin who is not in the know about MascotGuy will be in a better position to act. Mostly, I reserve reporting him for this page. --BlueSquadronRaven 20:27, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
A whole buttload of MascotGuys
Here's a series of more of these grotesque accounts that must be destroyed before they're able to reproduce (again):
- Jackiekhan (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log), which also spawned the following accounts:
- Sponge Monkey (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)
- Mr. Hooters (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) (how the hell can a name like that exist?)
- Filthy Milky Way Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log)
- Shoot Scoot Guy (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log).
Jackiekhan is also the one that created the now-blocked Mr. Frecklefly (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log). What I don't understand is if you're already registered, how the hell can you create another account without logging out? Tuxide 04:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- They look like him, all right. Done. ProhibitOnions (T) 08:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
FartBurp
This particularly lovely moniker is, I beleive, another incarnation of MascotGuy. In addition to his usual editing pattern, Fartburp has even been so bold as to vandalize the {{MascotGuy}} template used to denote his banning on user pages. --BlueSquadronRaven 20:31, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Looks more like an attempt at enhancement rather than a vandalising. =) Powers T 15:27, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- (sigh) You know, he could be a really good editor if he would talk and listen to other users. —tregoweth (talk) 18:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- And cite things. I had a great long edit war with him over one aspect of an article that he refused to cite, yet plastered all over and article. When he finally DID cite it, and it turned out to be accurate, I could hardly go back, then, could I? (Although, because of the source of the cite, I still had to edit out his enthusiastic plastering of it over the rest of the article.) --BlueSquadronRaven 20:52, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

{{MascotGuy}}
The {{MascotGuy}} template used to identify our favourite editor seems to be coming under fire from an admin named DragonflySixtyseven. He has been redirecting it (as well as a duplicate template called {{mascotguy}} (note all lower case)) to {{Pageblankvandal}} instead. Perhaps someone with more experience than I in dealing with MascotGuy could explain our position? --BlueSquadronRaven 22:58, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
It now appears that someone nominated the MascotGuy template for deletion on or around 22 September. They don't appear to have followed proper procedure, however, since I can't find any record of discussion of it on WP:TFD. Perhaps the template should have the notice removed? --BlueSquadronRaven 20:47, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

He can't be switching between too many IPs. Can't a group be blocked so he'll take the hint? – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 05:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- GFG has been blocked. —tregoweth (talk) 06:51, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'd made successful e-mail contact with this young man's mother a couple of years ago. Nice lady. She claims her son is autistic and she limits his time spent online due to the really nasty predators out there. She was also very sorry for his actions. I guess the family is editing off of a dynamic IP, so all we can do is tag and bag. I have a feeling that his infrequent appearances have to do with punishment. He's a pest, but at least he isn't a malicious page move vandal or brutal personal attacker. - Lucky 6.9 07:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, that's not too surprising. At least his appearances aren't too frequent to becoming terribly inconvient. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 07:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
