Israelbeach (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) (aka Joel Leyden) is currently under an indefinite block for revealing personal information and for making legal and general threats. Several accounts judged to be puppets of Israelbeach have been blocked, but several other accounts with similar editing patterns are still active, and new ones appear periodically. The accounts are given the benefit of the doubt and not blocked on sight, as they do occasionally contribute valid and useful edits (almost always, these are updates on Israeli current events).

Joel Leyden is an Israeli SEO. He maintains several private websites and discussion groups, including the [www.israelnewsagency.com/ Israel News Agency] and IsraelPr. Many of his past edits to Wikipedia were clear examples of self promotion. When called on this, he becamed increasingly antagonistic towards various Wikipedia editors and administrators, and was ultimately indefinitely blocked for threats coupled with revelation of personal information. To this day he occasionally publishes long rants against Wikipedia on his webpage, disguised as "news", in which he vilifies specific Wikipedians who have crossed swords with him.

Part of Israelbeach's MO is the creation of sockpuppets to show false consensus. These sockpuppets are easily recognisable, as they will always fullheartedly support each other and pat each other on the back, often perpetuating the same spelling mistakes.

Accounts listed here have exhibited one or several of the following:

  1. low to very low edit counts
  2. edits are mostly articles related to Joel Leyden and the Israel News Agency (Note: some of these articles have since been deleted, meaning that edits disappear from the visible list of contributions and it may appear that almost no edits were made)
  3. unqualified support for Leyden
  4. voting on AfD against deletion of such articles, often joining the debate after fewer than 5 edits to wikipedia
  5. supporting and commending each other on talk pages (false consensus)
  6. adding outside links to the Israel News Agency, usually to articles on Israeli current events
  7. similar style: certain typical formatting problems, poor command of wiki markup, spelling mistakes typical of dyslexia or hasty writing
  8. very little text on user page, often only "I live in Israel" and/or "No censorship" ribbon
  9. accusing editors who disagree with Israelbeach of anti-semitism and and collaboration with anti-zionist enemies, censorship, supporting terrorism etc.
  10. antagonism towards other editors
  11. wikilawyering
