Cplot (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) is a disruptive Wikipedia editor; the severity of his disruption has been on the increase recently with the use of hundreds of sockpuppets to attack Wikipedia: namespace pages with "clown" or US government related content (see below). Several checkusers have also been done, however, he appears to use multiple ISPs to evade blocks, as a handful of new sockpuppets tend to show up on a daily basis.

Modus operandi

Cplot attacks generally Wikipedia: namespace pages, such as WP:AN and the Wikipedia:Village Pump, although he has attacked other pages, such as September 11, 2001 attacks. Edits from sockpuppets generally attack administrators and checkusers. [1] [2] His attacks on MONGO, [3] among other users, are not all that surprising considering MONGO was one of the original blocking administrators. He also brags about the blocks occurring that attempt to put a stop to his sockpuppet creation, [4], [5], [6], and so blocking and moving on is probably the best solution. To date, there are well over 200 suspected sockpuppets of Cplot. Edits are generally easy to spot, and any suspected sockpuppets of this user should be immediately blocked and tagged with {{sockpuppet|Cplot}}.

Further investigation is still ongoing, an abuse report has been filed, and one of the ISPs has been contacted concerning this matter. A major problem is that he is using a wireless card, which allows him to exploit multiple ISPs that use shared/dynamic IP addresses. This also means that having checkuser blocks on such IPs will potentially affect many other legitimate users. There is also a possibility that there is more than one person involved (as Cplot as used "we" when posting to AN), and that a role account may also be another possibility.
