This article is good as far as it goes, but misses a great deal. I do not have the reference sources to fill in the gaps. I think there is a work by A. Raistrick, Two centuries of industrial welfare, dealing with the company in the north of England. Peterkingiron 17:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
