London Gliding Club

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The London Gliding Club was formed shortly after the formation of the British Gliding Association on February 20, 1930. When the club started using Ivinghoe Beacon as a launch site for its gliders, the spectacle attracted so much public attention that the club were evicted for "spoiling it's peaceful enjoyment by the public". The club then moved to its current home at the foot of the Dunstable Downs, technically within the parish boundaries of Totternhoe. It is one of the largest gliding clubs in the United Kingdom.
