The London Community Gospel Choir are a gospel choir located in the UK.
The founders of the choir are Bazil Meade, Lawrence Johnson and Delroy Powell. Meade was also member of the pioneering gospel-funk band Kainos in the mid-70s (1977/78 album: Changing). The choir was initially made up of members from over 30 black church denominations across London.
They recorded a version of the OutKast hit "Hey Ya!" with Razorlight (the B-side to their single "Vice"), performed with Madonna at Live 8, singing backing vocals on "Like a Prayer" featured on Will Young's debut album, From Now On, and sang on Blur's hit, "Tender". They also provided backing vocals throughout Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 2005 double album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. They also performed in the songs Don't Get Lost in Heaven and Demon Days on the Gorillaz Demon Days album.
