[edit] History
London Buses route RV1 is a tourist route in London. The route is branded as Riverside which is what the 'RV' in the route code identifies as. The route has operated since 2003 and has been very popular with tourists and with commuters, as it is the only route to serve many roads between Waterloo and London Bridge.
It was one of the first routes in London to be off-ticketing only. This meant quicker boarding and journey times, and during the first few months most buses ran early to the timetable.
The type of buses that operate on this route are rigid (not articulated or "bendy-bus") Mercedes-Benz Citaros. The three trial fuel cell/ hydrogen powered Citaros (more information) were used on this route to compare its efficiency with regular Citaros. They only operated in the mornings and early afternoon due to a lack of fuel capacity, normal diesel buses take over their duties after then. However, the trials ended on January 12, 2007.
