From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lois E. Jackson is the mayor of Delta, British Columbia. She was first elected to Delta Municipal Council in 1972. She was the first woman to hold office as an Alderman, later changed to Councillor. Jackson is Delta's second female Mayor; the first was Beth Johnson. She was re-elected in the 2005 elections. Her career has had its bumpy moments. She was almost removed from power by referendum, but narrowly held her place in office. She also has had her office swept for bugs using taxpayer money, with little explanation as to why.
