Loe Bar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loe Bar is a unique geographical feature. It is a shingle bar that formed across the River Cober estuary, thus forming the largest natural lake in Cornwall (Loe Pool). This is thought to have occurred in the 13th century, recently in geological terms, and denied the town of Helston access to the sea
Loe Bar is situated between the towns of Helston and Porthleven and provides spectacular views along the public access Penrose Estate, administered by the National Trust.
The Loe Bar is the only site in Britain where the subspecies leechi of the Sandhill Rustic moth is found.
