[edit] Ska-p
Hi. I have just done an edit of Ska-p and have removed some excessive internal linking, such as removing a lot of the song links. Generally, a link to another article should only be done once, as it otherwise distract's the reader's attention, especially when you link the same article multiple times in the same paragraph. Please read Wikipedia:Make_only_links_relevant_to_the_context if you haven't done so already.
In any case, don't worry too much about existing articles you may have created or modified that may have been over-linked. Every new editor (including myself at one point) takes some time to adjust to standards.
Keep up your good work on articles and welcome to Wikipedia. RedWolf 04:32, Jun 5, 2004 (UTC)
Many thanks for the Ska-p article :o) Hashar 09:18, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Misspellings
Just use the search function :)
Wikipedia:List of common misspellings is a good place to start looking for what to search for. Good luck! Fredrik | talk 22:09, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
ahh, wow. I never really used the search function for anything other than actually getting to a specific article. So if I search for, say, 'accomadated,' it would just give me a bunch of pages with that? Heh...I didn't know wikipedia could work like google too ;) thanks! Lockeownzj00 22:15, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Locke - I saw your recent edits to the featured article. You said you weren't sure if you were overstepping your bounds - I wanted to let you know that what you did was OK. I appreciate all the help I can get when people fix my mistakes :) →Raul654 07:55, Aug 12, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] ATWT
Well, thank God for you! Anyway, I have only been watching with my grandmother since 1999. How long have you been watching?
If you could build on the history a bit, or the popular actors today, or more of the famous actors who were once on it, or anything you can add...that would be great. I know there were some good storylines that I have read about, and my grandmother told me about. Douglas Marland most definitely deserves his own section. My grandmother is very old and is very wary about interracial anything, but one of her favorite pairings was Jessica with Duncan. Good storytelling can work wonders.
It most definitely doesn't have to be EXACTLY like this, but let me give you an example of the work I've done on soap articles. Another World (soap opera). I started watching that one with my mother when I was seven, and I followed it until it was canceled. Now that it's rerun, I could see the things I was too young for before, and of course, I added things I read in books. Mike H 14:57, Aug 12, 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I do agree that you need to update this motherfucker. If you have AIM, contact me on I Came To Work. :-) Mike H 02:00, Aug 26, 2004 (UTC)
The 'famous actors who were once in it' should be easy, on the IMDb are all the castmembers since 1956. I'd be more than happy to get started with this. ZanderZ 13:45, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Captions
Hey, thanks for all the images you've been adding on Nintendo-related articles. I thought I'd point you to Wikipedia:Captions - such a prolific contributor of images should write good captions too. :) Andre 21:41, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Well, there are caption guidelines - stuff like write complete sentences, write active instead of passive, and so on. As for the WikiProject, I suppose all the articles there have captions like "A can of spam" as opposed to "Spam comes in cans to better insure freshness," or something. Take a look at my edit of Nintendo DS versus yours and you'll see what I mean. Andre 21:53, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

I've nominated Image:Peace on motherfuckin earth.png for deletion, just because it's unused. Don't take it personally. By the way, I love your public domain release. It's, well, awesome. You just might want to make it a bit more clear that you're serious. As is, that might not be legally valid as a release of rights(if you care :) ). Superm401 | Talk July 6, 2005 02:20 (UTC)
[edit] Wikiproject Final Fantasy
Hi, I watched you make some contributions on Final Fantasy articles and if I'm right, your nick is based on Locke Cole from Final Fantasy VI, so I wanted to draw your attention to the Wikiproject Final Fantasy which is simply a project trying to bring a standard to Final Fantasy and related articles. Feel free to take your own decision on this. – DarkEvil 20:21, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Final Fantasy's Japanese name
You joined the project, thank you. You are able to play the game in japanese it seems, so I'd need you to clarify something if you can. I discussed on the Final Fantasy VI page about Final Fantasy's japanese name because on the Final Fantasy article, the romanization gives Fainaru Fantajii while on the Internet Movie database it give Fainaru Fantajî and the answer on the talk page was Fainaru Fantaji. So, I want to know if there is this accent ^ on the î like this, or if there isn't. I hope you can help. – DarkEvil 15:25, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the effort to make me understand this. I understood, though it took me two or three reads to be certain, so no changes to the current romanization (Fainaru Fantajii) needs to be made, Thanks! – DarkEvil 17:04, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Screenshots
The answer to that one is simple, I use ZSNES at a screen resolution of 512X448 DR W with exactly no kind of filter like 2XSAI to really keep the SNES look. The real SNES resolution was of 256X224 going up to 512X448 some times, but to look exactly like it was on the TV screen, you need to have it up to 512X448 all the time. — DarkEvil 13:22, August 11, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] One-Winged Angel
Have you ever played through Final Fantasy VII? If so, you must have heard the One-Winged Angel theme song during the Safer Sephiroth fight which contains latin choral. There has been a discussion on the One-Winged Angel page saying that, from some sources, the "Gloriosa, generosa" section is not right, it's instead saying something in Japanese being "Haryuu no hanekata." which translates to "[The/one] winged one of the lower reaches"? You could be a great help by listening to the song yourself (I can provide it if you need) and confirming whether this is Japanese or not. — DarkEvil 14:07, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] felling of the beast
hahaha..the way i did it was by calling the man she sourced on the phone and email corresponding him about the article. she couldn't argue that her source defended her position after that.
what you can do:
- help out on the votes for deletion page too!
- gimme a barnstar(just kidding it makes little/no diff. to me)! took forever to try to hammer in objectivity there!
--Urthogie 04:18, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
Well heres the story. At first I had sympathy for her because people seemed to hate her(I would later learn why). So as you can see on the talk page I made a geniuine attempt at being nice to her so as to get a bit of objectivity in the article. She came back soon with this kind of paranoid/narcissistic response that just set me off the wrong way. So I read her user pages and I begin to see how crazy she really is. I mean she's comparing her arbitration to a lynching. I really dont mind most of the biased people or paranoid people or narcissistic people on wikipedia, but shes this mix of those traits i just couldnt stand. eventually i figured out i had to call her out on the one thing she relied upon, the man himself that she sourced. so i look him up at the university, tell his secretary he may be being misquoted. we have an email exchange and he explains that hes conceived the idea of dignity in african art, and that the only scientific thing about his observations is the consistancy of dignity. the other elements are just his art observations. Also, I changed a lot of her edits in the title paragraphs of afrocentrism, you should check those out too, I think she ignored that one as well.
The main problem seems to be not her afrocentrist point of view, but her way of implementing it, with the reverts and whatnot that makes her a really ineffectual and unlikable wikipedian. but yeah, thats my story.--Urthogie 07:59, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Crack rock steady 7in.gif)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Crack rock steady 7in.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 13:15, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Forces of evil - jay and john ska summit 2003.PNG
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Forces of evil - jay and john ska summit 2003.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 10:23, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Atari 7800 system.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:Atari 7800 system.PNG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok ☠ 19:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
