Reading University Lock Picking Society, or Lock Soc as it is known, was started in 2006 by a group of 2nd year Engineering students.

Although the society is small and young, it has already gained controversy amongst the older societies for encouraging criminal activities but the current president, Stephen Hewitson, denies these claims avidly. He claims that locks are simply just puzzles, and learning to lock pick is the same as learning to solve a Rubix Cube or a sudoku puzzle.

The society is currently running a competition that involves collecting the society owned locks from around the University campus. This is becoming increasingly more popular with non-society members and proves to be a good method of acquiring new members.

The official website - www.LockSoc.co.uk - appeared online very recently. This is bound to draw more interest into the society.
