Lochboisdale (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Baghasdail) is the main population centre on the island of South Uist.

It is the ferry terminal for the island of South Uist The pier area has undergone a transformation as the old shop and surrounding buildings were either renovated or removed to provide new housing and commercial units for rent.

Lochboisdale Hotel, built in the late 19th century as a fishing hotel, is adjacent to the ferry terminal.

There is a butcher's shop, a hardware store, a bank (with ATM facilities), a community centre (with public internet access), the post office and the Police Station within walking distance of the pier. A garage and filling station are also close to the pier. There is a Free Church of Scotland in the village.

There are free yacht moorings available in Lochboisdale (as well as in many other lochs and bays along the east coast of the islands). Comann Seolaidh Lochbaghasdail is the local sailing club.

Like many of the islands there is hardly any crime and visitors can relax in the gentle Hebridean way.
