[edit] The Isle O' Hags

Isle O' Hags is the fictional continent on which all of the Banjo-Tooie worlds are. Isle O' Hags gets its name from the evil witches that roam the area. These witches include Gruntilda Winkybunion and her two sisters Mingella & Blobbelda. Due to Gruntilda's Lair being visible in Conker: Live & Reloaded, it has been speculated that the Conker games also take place on the Isle O' Hags.

[edit] Spiral Mountain

Spiral Mountain is home to many characters, including Banjo himself. Banjo’s house lies on the outer part of Spiral Mountain. It is also where you will discover Gruntilda's Lair.

Spiral Mountain gets its name from the spiral-shaped mountain that lies in the heart of the area. There is also a moat-like lake placed around it. Sprial Mountain went through some damage in Banjo-Tooie after Grunty's sisters came through with a powerful digging machine to rescue Gruntilda from beneath a rock she was trapped under during the conclusing of the first game. Ths level mostly involves Bottles teaching Banjo and Kazooie most of the moves they will use throughout the rest of the game.

Gruntilda's Lair is a level in the Banjo-Kazooie series of games.

Gruntilda's Lair is a dusty, dirty lair, the kind of place that Grunty herself loves, and lives in. This setting is like the main "lobby", where Banjo and Kazooie can enter the many worlds. However, to unlock and enter a world, they must first collect a certain number of Jiggies and put them in the painting-puzzles throughout the place. Once the puzzles are completed, the entrances themselves are unblocked to allow the bear and bird access into them, where they must also collect the Jiggies and Notes inside them.

Players will find that Grunty will make comments randomly while progressing through the lair.

In Banjo-Tooie, the lair is accessible, but players can only enter the first room, where Cheato will exchange missing pages for cheat codes. Other parts of the lair are blocked by stones that presumably fell when Gruntilda's sisters drilled through Spiral Mountain. Rumors fueled by the map's title, "Gruntilda's Lair (Entrance)", led some to believe there might actually be another room, but hackers have discovered that nothing actually lies on the other side of the rocks. One hacker actually found a string of text that might indicate that there was a bigger use to the lair than just Cheato. The text that the hacker loaded was "Gruntilda's Lair (Tower Room)", although all efforts to load the actual map so far, have failed. [1]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, a game that takes place in-between Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, Grunty returns to her base 30 years in the past for the game's last few battles. The only rooms shown are three small rooms where Banjo and Kazooie fight Klungo, then Grunty, then Klungo again; and the roof, where they fight Grunty in the final boss battle of the game. It appears that the place where Grunty's Lair is was originally going to be a shrine to the Jinjo King of that time, judging by the broken stone head that resembles King Jingaling's on the ground near Grunty's Lair (this might explain why the Jinjo statues appeared at the top of the tower during the final battle of Banjo-Kazooie).

Gruntilda's Lair is visible in the Rare developed game Conker: Live & Reloaded, due to which it has been speculated that the Conker games take place on the Isle O' Hags that the Banjo-Kazooie games take place on.

[edit] Mumbo's Mountain

A small world with a large mountain presumibly owned by Mumbo Jumbo, this world is inhabited by imps, termites, and an invincible ox. It is home to Chimpy the Chimpanzee, Conga the Gorilla, and possibly Mumbo. Bottles teaches Banjo and Kazooie how to perform the Beak Buster, the Talon Trot, and how to fire eggs on this world. Mumbo's transformation for Banjo and Kazooie on this world is a termite.

Mumbo's transformation for Banjo and Kazooie on this world is a crocodile (notably the only transformation with an attack).

[edit] Freezeezy Peak

A snowy, Christmas-themed world with a giant snowman in the center and home of the infamous Ice Key, this world is inhabited by spinning ice cubes, snowmen and lightbulb-eating reptiles. It is home to Boggy the Polar Bear, Boggy's three kids, and Wozza the Walrus. Bottles teaches Banjo and Kazooie how to perform the Beak Bomb, an aerial divebombing attack. Mumbo's transformation for Banjo and Kazooie on this world is a walrus.

It is home to Gobi the Camel, Jinxy the Sphinx, King Sandybutt the Mummy, Trunker the Tree, Rubee the Snake Charmer, and Rubee's snake, Histup. [edit] Mad Monster Mansion

A Halloween-based world with a large mansion owned by Gruntilda in the center, this world is inhabited by bats, ghosts, skeletons, and living tomb stones. It is home to Loggo the Toilet, Motzand the Ghost, and Napper the Ghost. Bottles does not teach Banjo and Kazooie on this world. A large forest centered around a giant tree, four different doors will allow Banjo and Kazooie to enter the world through four seasons. This world is inhabited by bees, birds, elves, ice cubes, snapping flowers, snowmen, and an invincible ox, though not all in the same season. It is home to Eyrie the Eagle, Gnawty the Beaver, Nabnut the Squirel, and for a short while Gobi the Camel. Bottles does not teach Banjo and Kazooie any new moves on this world. Mumbo's transformation for Banjo and Kazooie on this world is on this world is a bee, though he'll only transform them during the spring.

[edit] Jinjo Village

The Jinjo Village fictional town neighboring Spiral Mountain in the game Banjo-Tooie. In the game, the player must rescue several Jinjos that were held captive by the evil witch, Gruntilda Winkybunion. By rescuing all of a certain color of Jinjos, you will be given their family heirloom: a Jiggy.

The village has various notable features: it is the location of the nine different coloured Jinjo houses; it is the location of King Jingaling's Palace; it is where Bottles and his family live; and it is where the Banjo-Kazooie game cartridge containing the Ice Key was found. Also, the digger that the sisters own destroyed what was the Grey Jinjo Family.

[edit] Wooded Hollow

[edit] Mayahem Temple

A Mayan-themed world that contains a code chamber for various game cheats, much in the vein of Treasure Trove Cove's sandcastle in Banjo-Kazooie. Inhabited by mogies (bipedal cats), stonies and easter island heads that shoot darts.

[edit] Jiggywiggy's Temple

This is the temple of Master Jiggywiggy, leader of the Order of the Crystal Jiggy. By completing puzzles with Jiggies - artifacts in Jiggywiggy's likeness - Banjo was able to access different worlds.

[edit] Plateau

[edit] Glitter Gulch Mine

A stereotypical gold mine with prison cells, a waterfall, prospectors, and caves filled with poisonous gas. This is where one first discovers Chuffy the train (derailed in the beginning).

[edit] Honey B.'s Hive

The hive is the home of Honey B., a giant, beautiful queen bee (dwarfing Banjo in size); she exchanges extra energy in return for hollow honeycombs.

[edit] Pine Grove

[edit] Witchyworld

A highly unsafe (and previously condemned) fairground, endorsed by Gruntilda, with dangerous rides and rude employees.

[edit] Cliff Top

[edit] Jolly Roger's Lagoon

This world is comprised of two areas, a nautical village and the lagoon, where Banjo and Kazooie can breathe underwater with the help of Mumbo. In the lagoon, one can travel to the sea bottom, enter Davy Jones's locker, and float among the ruins of Atlantis.

[edit] Atlantis

Almost a world in itself, Atlantis lies deep within the lagoon. The area is inhabited by dangerous marine creatures, and there are also ancient temples.

[edit] Hailfire Peaks

A giant twin-peaked mountain where one side is ice and the other is fire, both watched over by the Dragon Brothers, Chilli Billi and Chilly Willy. The fire side of the mountain was originally planned to be "Mount Fire Eyes" in Banjo-Kazooie.

[edit] Wasteland

[edit] Terrydactyland

An ancient prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and cavemen. This is also the home to Terry, a pterodactyl, single parent, and the world's namesake, whose nest sits at the top of the central mountain.

[edit] Cloud Cuckooland

Accessible by floating into the sky in a giant bubble, a fanciful world that floats exceedingly high above the Isle o' Hags, made of an enormous, hollow, purple mountain, surrounded by floating platforms of various oddities including a large wedge of smelly cheese, a pot of gold, and a gigantic trash can.

[edit] Quagmire

[edit] Grunty Industries

A massive factory for electrical appliances, endorsed by Grunty, with a waste disposal that causes problems for a previous world. A testament to Gruntilda's disdain for the environment, much in the vein of Rusty Bucket Bay.

[edit] Cauldron Keep

Grunty's hideout is the game's final level, though not a bona fide level like the others, as Jiggies, other items, and characters (Mumbo Jumbo, Humba Wumba, and Sgt. Jamjars) are all absent. After the player faces off one last time with Klungo, they must survive Grunty's Tower of Tragedy quiz, which is similar to Grunty's Furnace Fun in Banjo-Kazooie. After that, a cutscene shows Banjo and Kazooie reversing B.O.B.'s effects to bring King Jingaling and Bottles back to life, followed by a showdown on the roof with Gruntilda in her Hag 1 machine.
