Well, my main verification on it is that I was on the 2004 and 2005 St. Anthony teams, so I'm quite positive of it being the first St. Anthony trip in 2004. There was a Star Tribune article about the 2004 finals; proper citation could be possibly found there. I think the dates were like April 24-25, so looking between the 25-27th might give something - it was page 1 of the Metro-State section.

Somewhere I have booklet things that they gave out each year; I'm currently not in Minneapolis and I won't be back until mid-March, but when I'm in town I can try to find some of them and see if they flesh out any information about the subject. matt91486 18:24, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

At the time, our coach had made it a rather big deal that it was our first trip to state. I'm almost certain of it. It seems irresponsible to discount newspaper sources as a whole because of one faux pas, though. The Star Tribune's standard of reporting is certainly above the paper in Brainerd's. matt91486 00:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

My freshman year, which would have been the 2001-2002 year, we got a new coach. The previous coach had started the program but never really had put a lot of effort into it and it was a very laid back affair. The new coach was much more focused on actual performance of the team and so with a couple of years transition to the new coach, the work ethic of the program has increased dramatically. The first couple of years, we only practiced once a week, for example, which was in sharp contrast to most of the other big programs, and that gradually increased. Similarly, the tournament schedule has gotten more rigorous, etc. The program wasn't ever a serious competitor before 2003. matt91486 22:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
