[edit] Colts logos

I have taken your lead in putting the "I Assert that..." on the Colts pages. I just find it annoying, it's like out of the probably hundreds of images from sportslogos.net, it's the Colts logos that seem to be singled out and tagged. Crazy Canadian 12:30, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for doing that. I'm not really singling out the Colts images, those were just the first that I saw. Actually, I'm marking the others as well, as I find them. If you know of other images with this problem, you could certainly tag them yourself or let me know, please. --Lmcelhiney 01:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Admin coaching

There's an interesting situation that could use a sockpuppet investigation. Have a look at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#G2bambino_wikistalking. I'm dropping word with a few of my trainees about this. DurovaCharge! 06:27, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Multiple User Accounts for User:Soxrock

I agree he hasn't quite violated any policy, especially now that it's announced these are multiples of the same person. I do think he's slightly using the different accounts to bolster "support" for his use of images and to give the sense that "more people" feel the use and position of their size is supported than is actually the case, but I don't have much (if any) proof, just my hunch really. I don't think we can do anything other than ask him to just use one account, to help consolidate the many notifications. You you compiled all his image notices onto one account, one would see a major problem, but spread out, it just looks like a normal problem. We tried to goto a madcab case about this, but another user opposed since it wouldn't having binding results so it went nowhere fast. I think just monitoring and asking to goto one username is all we can do, until he does something bad/against policy with them. Also, you should sign your comments on talk pages using ~~~~, like on my talk page. It will sign the page for you like this (except with your name): MECUtalk 14:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

(Oops, sorry! I was in a rush.) What is most frustrating about this is that I never knew initially that he had more than one account, so thought I was interacting with several users with the same FU Rationale issue. It took a lot of reading of edit history on Talk pages and User Contributions to figure the first one out. (Finally, I started listing more than one of his usernames on the messages that I placed on the talk page.) Unfortunately, we still don't know if there are more than the 4 accounts... --Lmcelhiney 14:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry, these are the only accounts I operate under. I did have a "bot" account proposal, but it failed. Now my intention has not been to make it seem like more support for me, or to bolster my accounts, but rather which account I bothered to sign in under. I generally use an account for a couple of days then switch to another. This account is used very sporadically. But I apologize for any confusion, but I'm not trying to stir anymore controversy with images (as in reverting back to uploaded size, because since I already have the image, I don't need it at full size, so feel free to reduce any uploaded images). The only thing is is that I'm likely not going to stop using all these accounts, I like all of them the same. But, I'm not going to use them for WP:3RR just to keep reverting. Thanks for understanding. TheSportsLogosMaster 15:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Romanesque

You are most welcome. I'm a bit surprised at your comment ("Your willingness to compromise to achieve a correlation between text and image is much appreciated") - isn't wikipedia a peaceful locale dedicated solely to the pursuit of gentle intellectual truths in a collaborative, gentlemanly manner? Ha!

I'm just happy that my edit is approved of by someone more knowledgeable than me. I will venture the opinion that the article could still do with more text, but I am too ignorant on the subject to add anything myself. I look forward to any further info you may add to the article.

Thanks!

[edit] Image:Brady_Quinn_SI.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Brady_Quinn_SI.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. [edit] Stop canvassing

Stop canvassing for keep votes. It's not acceptable to go around trying to get people to support the same viewpoint as you. --Deskana (ya rly) 01:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry that I did somethng unacceptable. I thought that asking folks with whom you had worked on an article to review the proposed deletion and decide for themselves was acceptable. Please accept my apology. --Lmcelhiney 02:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
No need to apologise, but note that you weren't asking them to decide for themselves, you were asking them to vote keep. --Deskana (ya rly) 02:44, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Please add your support with a Keep if you are interested in it not being deleted. I believe that there was a conditional in there, "if", which still allows free will. Your deletion of the messages disallows them knowledge of the situation. How would you have notified them in a more acceptable manner?--Lmcelhiney 02:55, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
If I nominated an article for deletion, and went around to people saying "I want this article deleted, if you agree vote delete", it wouldn't be acceptable. You're trying to draw a crowd into the deletion debate, that likely have opinions that agree with you. Not notifying people is a much wiser alternative. --Deskana (ya rly) 15:25, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I just wasn't aware that this was a problem in the first place, this being the first time that an article or image of came to deletion. So I need to ensure that I write a solid arguement for retention of the image or article to which other passers-by agree. Or, rather, ensure that I have followed all of the guidelines and policies in the first place, so that the proposed deletion never happened. I will certainly follow your advise in future. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. Cheers, Larry --Lmcelhiney 18:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Pub

See you at Union Jacks around 1pm local ;-) (Speedway) Woodsstock 14:31, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, my wife and I were out all day, so I didn't see this until too late! Send me an email and let's try to get together. Take care, Larry --Lmcelhiney 21:10, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Admin coaching

If you're interested in putting in some sysop-like work, have a look at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard. It's got 31 open cases including a long list of bot-identified probable vanity articles. The board could really use some extra help and much of it doesn't need the tools. Drop me a line if something needs a block. Regards, DurovaCharge! 14:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:BTLogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:BTLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
