P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

[edit] Mexican Presidents

You're doing some very useful work with the Mexican presidents. However, the "President" template is not the best for them: it has an entry for the vice-president (obviously not applicable) and I personally think the idea of putting an "Order Number" gives a false notion of continuity from 1824 to date.

To help matters, I've just created "Template:Infobox MexicanPresident", which is better suited to our purposes. Would you consider using that one instead?

Oh, and another thing: don't bother changing dates in dd MMM yyyy format to MMM dd, yyyy, format -- you can set how dates are displayed in "Preferences", and it's generally considered poor etiquette to change someone else's stylistic preferences to suit yours. So if you come across any 1 December 2004 type dates, please leave them as they are.

Is there any reason you're reverting from that one to the generic "Infobox President"? Why indicate a vice president, when that position is unknown to the current Mexican Constitution. And, please, stop arbitrarily changing date formats. –Hajor 03:24, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:CSG.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images (on my talk page) and I'll tag them for you. Thanks for uploading Image:Miguel dlm.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

The copyright holder, and
The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:

The copyright holder gets the best protection of his work by licencing their work under an open content license like the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. If you have the express permission of the copyright holder to licence their work under the above licence, use the image copyright tag: {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}. The GNU Free Documentation License is another choice for licencing one's work. Again, if you have the express permission of the copyright holder, use the tag: {{GFDL}}.

The copyright holder can also release his work into the public domain, see here for images released into the public domain.

- Images from certain sources are automatically release into the Public Domain. This is true for most governments like the federal United States government. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments) However not all governments release their work into the public domain, such as the UK government (See herefor images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.

Also, in some cases, an image is copyrighted but allowed on Wikipedia because of Fair Use. To see if this image qualifies and then how to tag it, see Wikipedia:Fair use.

For any other sources of for more information see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Please remember that if you don't tag your images, they will be deleted.

P.S. If you have uploaded other images without including copyright tags, please go back and tag them. Also, please tag all images that you upload in the future.

Please note that a new speedy deletion criteria dictates that images without source or copyright tag should be speedy deleted. So unless fx the images you uploaded of mexican presidents get sorted out they will probably start disappearing very soon. Thue | talk 13:50, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:FCalderonH.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
