Liza Wright

Liza Wright serves George W. Bush as Assistant to President for Presidential Personnel and Director of Presidential Personnel. She is responsible for leading the team that recruits thousands of candidates for all senior-level positions within the Bush Administration. Mrs. Wright meets with the President regularly to make recommendations for all political appointees throughout the Executive Branch, including cabinet and non-cabinet members, ambassadors, and appointees to Presidential boards and commissions.

Liza Wright previously served the President as a Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel, managing the economic portfolio. Prior to joining the administration, Ms. Wright was a principal at Heidrick & Struggles, an executive search company. She spent eight years at Heidrick focusing her search practice in the Technology, Industrial and Professional Service sectors. Mrs. Wright has successfully completed searches for CEO’s, board members, presidents, and a wide variety of functional vice presidents. She has placed these executives in startup firms, small- and medium-sized public and private firms, major Fortune 100 corporations, and leading not-for-profit entities.

Earlier in her career, she was an executive recruiter at Capital One Financial Corporation. During her four years at Capital One, the company went public and grew from 500 to over 8,000 employees worldwide. Mrs. Wright led the recruitment of the management within Capital One’s emerging new businesses, as well as within their corporate headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia. Mrs. Wright received her bachelor's degree from James Madison University. She is married to Karl Renner, an Attorney in Washington, DC.
