[edit] Personal Life
McClarnon was engaged to her childhood sweetheart, Tommy Hibbs until 2001. She is currently engaged to footballer Lee Trundle of Swansea City F.C.[1].Liz also remains good friends with Atomic Kitten members,Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost.
Even though McClarnon loved to sing as a child, she never imagined that it would become her career. She wanted to study law after secondary school, but her music teacher was impressed by her singing abilities and arranged her to take part in an audition by Andy McCluskey, who wanted to set up a girl band. In 1997 McClarnon became one of the original members of Atomic Kitten and she co-wrote many of the songs during her time in the girl group. She is the only original member of Atomic Kitten due to the other two leaving; Heidi Range was replaced by Natasha Hamilton by 1998, and Kerry Katona was replaced by Jenny Frost in 2001.
[edit] Atomic Kitten
Liz became a member of the girl-group Atomic Kitten when it started.Atomic Kitten are an English girl group from Liverpool composed of McClarnon, Natasha "Tash" Hamilton, and Jenny Frost, who replaced original member Kerry Katona in January 2001. Atomic Kitten has sold over 8 million [2] albums and singles around the world. Many of their singles and albums entered the Top 40 charts worldwide such as "Right Now", "Whole Again", "Eternal Flame", "The Tide Is High", and "Ladies Night".
[edit] Solo Career
After Atomic Kitten took a break Liz was signed to AATW records. On February 13, 2006 McClarnon released her first solo single, a cover of Barbra Streisand's 1980 hit "Woman In Love". The track has been produced by Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees who also wrote the original version[3] and whom she accompanied on his 2005 tour.[4] A video has been shot and released and features McClarnon in a Manhattan apartment, but it is actually filmed in Lil's home town of Liverpool. It was decided to release the single as a double A-side with Jackie Wilson's "I Get the Sweetest Feeling". The single peaked at number 5 in the UK Singles Chart and at number 33 in World Singles Official Top 100 chart.[5] and after more than half a year after release it peaked at #16 in the Spanish charts on October 22, 2006.[6]
On February 25, 2005 McClarnon appeared at Belfast's biggest gay venue, "The Kremlin", performing both of her solo tracks and two Atomic Kitten classics ("Whole Again" and "The Tide Is High").
On March 17, 2007 McClarnon competed for the chance of becoming the UK's Eurovision entry in the fourth edition of 'Making Your Mind Up'. She competed with the self-penned song 'Happy', but didn't make it to the top 2. Liz was very upset and not very Happy when she didn't make it into Eurovision.
Now! Liz is working on her new record with Hollywood Records in America after auditioning for a show in California. Her agent called and said "The judges Like You, but not for an actress..." The judges also commented on her "Beautiful Soft Voice" and they are happy to sign her up for a record deal. The album is self-titled and rumored single will be called "Finally (Here I Am)" The album will also include 2 bonus tracks which are "Woman In Love" and "Happy" Album is set for realease around Summer of July/August.[citation needed]
Liz will also appear on Jenny Frost's christmas album "In The Frost" on a song which will be her first single "It's Snowing (Rejoice!)" I'm sure me and the girls will come back together on a new atomic kitten album next year."[citation needed]
